Argan Oil

Argan oil is obtained from the seeds of the argan tree, which grows in the semi-arid soil of North Africa, mainly in Morocco. It is highly-prized due to its particular growing conditions and limited geographical availability. Rich in antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids, and vitamin e, this highly-prized oil is great for nourishing and moisturizing both skin and hair. It works well for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin.

Bentonite Clay
Untreated.
Our bentonite clay is a sodium bentonite collected from naturally occurring volcanic ash deposits. Clays are highly absorbent and therefore extremely effective at drawing oil and impurities from the skin. Bentonite is unique among the clays because its molecules have a strong negative charge when hydrated - since most toxins and heavy metals carry a positive charge, bentonite attracts these substances and can help remove them from the body. Bentonite clay also contains a high concentration of beneficial minerals like calcium, magnesium, and silica. Because of its absorptive properties, bentonite is especially great for oily or acne-prone skin.

Our rose hydrosol is expertly distilled from hand-picked rose petals and has a beautiful, delicate rose aroma. It acts as a light humectant to draw moisture into the skin and boost hydration. It’s also mildly astringent, helping to minimize the appearance of pores and control oil production. The slightly acidic pH of rose hydrosol is a good match for the skin’s natural pH, which means it can help maintain the skin’s protective barrier. It’s a wonderful ingredient for all skin types, especially sensitive or mature skin.

Castor oil is a highly viscous oil pressed from the castor bean. Its main chemical constituent is ricinoleic acid (this makes up about 90% of the oil), but it also contains a variety other beneficial fatty acids. Its high fatty acid content makes castor oil an excellent emollient, helping to smooth and soften the skin and stimulate collagen production to diminish signs of aging. Castor oil also has great anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which make it a great choice for cleansing the skin.

This fragrant raw butter is slowly pressed from the seeds of the cacao tree. The seeds are extracted by fermenting hand-harvested cacao pods, which naturally removes the sweet white pulp that encases the seeds, and then the seeds are dried, milled, hand-sifted, and carefully pressed in a temperature-controlled process. The resulting creamy butter is rich in fatty acids and has great emollient properties. It is also high in vitamin e and antioxidants, which help fight off free-radicals to keep skin looking youthful and healthy. Since it is solid at room temperature, it helps impart hardness to skincare products. Cocoa butter is high on the comedogenic scale, so it has the potential to cause acne on acne-prone individuals and should be avoided on the face, but it makes a wonderful body moisturizer.

Cocoa Butter
Cold-pressed, unrefined, USDA certified organic, and food-grade.
Our coconut oil is pressed from the shelled, shredded, and dried pulp of fresh, whole coconuts. There is a reason coconut oil is so ubiquitous - it has great nutritional value, smells delightful, and is wonderfully moisturizing and protective when applied to the skin. It also has antibacterial properties due to its high content of medium-chain fatty acids, namely lauric acid. Because it’s high on the comedogenic scale, it can clog pores when used on the more delicate and acne-prone skin of the face, but it makes a lovely and effective body moisturizer. It is also the number one ingredient for producing lather in an all-natural soap.
Find it in our Lip Tint, Lip Balm, Sea Clay Soap, and Gentle Coconut Soap.

Cupuaçu Butter
Cold-pressed, unrefined, and wild-harvested.
Cupuaçu butter is extracted from the pulp of the fruit of the cupuaçu tree, which is native to the Amazon rain forest of Northern Brazil and related to the cacao plant. It has a delightful fruity chocolate scent. Among the butters, it is unrivaled in its ability to penetrate the skin and retain moisture, lending it a superior ability to hydrate and plump the skin and restore elasticity. It is often used as a plant-based alternative to lanolin. It is also rich in polysterols that provide skin barrier protection and polyphenols that help prevent sun damage and decelerate skin aging. Cupuaçu butter is great for all skin types and is especially recommended for dry, damaged, and mature skin.
